Son attacks mother with a knife in a traffic jam near Innsbruck
A German stabbed his mother with a knife near Innsbruck. Before that, both of them were stuck in a traffic jam with their car. The exact motive for the act is still unclear.
A car driver from Bavaria was attacked by her son with a knife on a motorway in Austria. As the Tyrolean police reported on Thursday, the 72-year-old woman and the 40-year-old man got caught in a traffic jam near Innsbruck and are expected to stop. There was a dispute that escalated. At the Wattens motorway exit, the son got out of the vehicle, opened the driver’s door and stabbed his mother with a kitchen knife.
According to police, several eyewitnesses rushed to the attacker’s aid on Wednesday and held the attacker until the police arrived. “The man was admitted to hospital because of his psychological condition and was admitted to the hospital there,” said a statement. The investigators do not provide any further information about his condition and a possible motive for the crime.
The woman suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds and cuts on both arms. Neither she nor her son have yet been interrogated. Both live in southern Bavaria.
