O registration as a taxpayer is mandatory for all nationals or foreigners, resident or non-resident who, by law, comply with tax obligations or intend to exercise their rights with the Tax and Customs Authority (AT), remember as Finance.
However, this registration implies obtaining a tax identification number (TIN) and is “essential condition to work for others, or to work for yourself and create your own business“, according to a tax information leaflet.
Where to ask for the TIN?
The request must be made at the e-counter, after confirmation, registering a new question and designated in the form as options ‘Contributor Registration »Atrib / Alter NIF-Singulares’ accompanied by the following scanned documentation:
- Copy of the civil identification document and passport of the citizen to be registered;
- Document with the address abroad;
- Copy of the tax representative’s civil identification document and the necessary power of attorney.
- In person at the Finance service
The request for maintenance of TIN in finance services must be preceded by advance scheduling face-to-face service, explains the AT.
“The appointment must be requested through the Finance Portal, upon registration in the service Face-to-face service by appointment accessible through the homepage of the Portal in the lower right corner under ‘Contact us’ or, from the number: 217 206 707 of the Call Center, on weekdays, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm”, it can be read.
