After all, we are diving deeper and deeper into our Slavic beginnings. We are Northern Slavs, despite shouting at everyone, sticking to the flanks that we are not Slavs – even though we are just like that, with our Slavic-sounding language, Slavic facial features and Russian sentimentality, speechless inertia and inertia.

What genes and history did not do was ended by occupation and prison life, which neither could Catholic humility and the naive belief that we would have mercy.

The farther away, the gloomier the flashing of the balana of our eastern European nature. We can, as much as we want, call it Northern Europe, Northern Athens or what kind of Baltic Switzerland is there. Not from afar. We are increasingly Amber Serbia, Belarus with Euros and Albania to the Baltics.

The more we become hostile to progress, science and drive (not all, because Westerners with us are the ones who continued to film on the spot and their parents and grandparents did not grow up in Russian spam about Chiapayev and the Great Patriotic War) – curiosity and desire to change is a peasant nap at the beach with zeppelins and faded, melancholic Chopin music, when the favorite things for Lithuanians are graves and candles at a discount.

And all this in one sentence, for a time wisdom, because that is how the ancients fought. The same ones whose other wisdom was cast out in the field are, “beat – means, love,” and “give more of a mixture that you don’t eat anything.”

This is the saying, the sigh of fools and cowards, in which the whole helplessness and inertia of the Lithuanian nation.

“As we found it, we will leave.”

There are many variants of this saying, all toxic. “For how much I bought, for how much I sell” (because profits are shameful), “be simpler, don’t jump” (don’t think how to achieve more – equate to losers), “measure seven times, cut ten” (be neurotically careful, everything doubt, it’s better to stink a hundred times than to go somewhere and make a mistake), “what I know” (I don’t know and don’t want, I’m not going to be interested, I’m not interested), and so on, to infinity. Philosophy of life of mushrooms, stumps and lichens. Cassowary march and jellyfish movement.

In the history of mankind, good things have always come through change (bad sometimes too, but stagnation is really successful and lagging behind). Man is meant to constantly change, to climb up, to dive deep, to drive or fly fast and on, to increase knowledge, abilities, wealth, the environment – thus inventions, technical progress, science, medicine, the growth of empires, new lands assimilation.

The Industrial Revolution, the increase in land fertility, business and management models, the science of engineering: it was all about the activities of people who leave nothing as they have found. As a child, a person who receives a box of blocks builds one of them, receives a felt-tip pen and drawing paper, draws something with them. Only a lot of serious trouble sits down and stares at the box, without touching it, so that the blocks are beautifully assembled and not removed – a child of normal development has an instinctive desire to change, to do differently than it was.

It is also wrong when a child does not remove the felt-tip pen from the tray and leaves the paper white – saving for the future. Yes, it’s similar to those who wrap the remote controls in a polyethylene bag and keep the carpet wrapped around the wall to prevent wear. Or those who have a garment save for a special occasion that never comes.

In Lithuania, there are the majority of such undiagnosed adult patients and trauma, even a critical mass. The scariest thing for them is change. This is an irrational and morbid fear of change, which even has a term: metathesophobia, is the national epidemic of the Lithuanian nation.

Not a fight, not a strain on alcohol, but it is that fear of change, a grip on the past, that is a serious national disease. The exchange was very visible three decades ago, when people stubbornly refused to accept the fact that the old world was gone. No one needs the old state-owned factories that produce Soviet spam, they no longer need a lot of old work skills, the old money is worthless, the savings in rubles are gone, and they will not return. You need to live anew, learn new activities and new languages, because otherwise you just condemn yourself to a state of constant unhappiness.

Want another symptom? When it was so unfortunate and sloppily crooked, and then the bankrupt national airline, Lithuanian Airlines (names later changed), some people said that it was very good for them to fly – just because they would be comfortable in Lithuania for a few more hours. Because if you fly on a German or Austrian plane, abroad starts at Vilnius Airport, which was scary and uncomfortable for them.

The same people who emigrated abroad beat their own cowards, gathered together, ate black bread and watched Lithuanian television in England because they feared the changes in life brought about by transformation and change according to the customs and manners of new homes.

When the litas was exchanged for the euro, people moaned that everything would become more expensive, others feverishly bought everything that fell on their hands, and counted the days when it was possible to pay in litas, because then there would be horror, a few more days, and there would be no lifeline.

Now, by the way, we see that thing – the virus, the new disease, has come with us forever, and no one will be as it was. Probably masks have come into our lives forever, vaccination will be needed every year (maybe several times), life will not come back. Sometimes there will be easier measures, sometimes more stringent measures, but the same life will no longer exist.

For those afraid of change, this is very difficult to understand and unacceptable, as it was incomprehensible in the days when people discovered germs and it turned out that life would be different. Drinking water will usually need to be boiled or otherwise disinfected, it will be necessary to wash and change it when it is torn, but when it is no longer dirty. “So what, now you need to wash those hands a few times every day? Maybe bathing every day? ”- this is how the ancestors asked the misunderstood, who are asking today, when will it be possible to stop vaccinating and beware here? Never, life is different. The sooner you accept this, the easier it will be for you.

Looking back at history, this has always been the case. At each stage, there were people who were terrified of the changes, protesting, being resistance soldiers.

What does a seat belt mean? My car the way I want it to drive, my grandfather drove without a seat belt, and I will drive without it for the rest of my life. How can children no longer be beaten? All? We were beaten when needed and there was nothing like that. Not all of those inventions will pass here. Like it’s here a man with a man wants to live, or a woman with a woman and here come up with gender innovative. It’s never been like that, and I don’t want to have them around, anything else.

When people can’t explain why the old way is better (no devil is better, you just were the old way), it says you need to respect traditions. why? “Because it’s necessary, and that’s it.” For example, it suggests to me to respect the tradition of paying more attention to the dead than the living, trampling under cemeteries and burning candles. I have nothing to respect – I don’t bother those people, let them spread the infection to each other, but I have my own opinion about backward customs that are foreign to me.

I once also behaved the way society behaved me, then I realized that life needs to be lived the way I like it, and from time to time I am much happier. Life is now, not the one that someone remembers from the day before yesterday and scratches on his sneezes.

If you can’t explain why tradition is a necessary value it carries, and can only say that we just did it, then that tradition is nonsense and needs to be changed, and the more people start behaving consciously and anew, breaking the cement of the past, the more happy they will be people. The mince will not turn back, and any attempt to glue a former piece of meat out of it and mourn the boiled egg so that it can never be opened back again can only bring disappointment.

Change is a plus, the past is a minus. It is impossible to be happy by clinging to negative attitudes.

For the change that began was always winning. It has not been otherwise. Parents who want and demand that their children live according to their prejudices and fears, work in jobs that parents like and understand, choose pairs according to their parents, give their grandchildren as soon as possible, be sure to buy an apartment and not rent it, because it is safer. so more reliable, have never won before. There are two options: the traumatized child lives not by himself, but by his parents, and is tortured by them (you will not call victory), or the children send their parents for life and call them once a year (well, if so).
