Help from congested Prague: A multi-storey car park with almost 900 spaces has been built in Černý Most
The new building stands next to the main road to the center in Chlumecká Street. According to the plan, drivers will be able to park here from the first of December. “We took over the construction site on July 1, 2020. We gave it to the investor at the beginning of October,” Martin Frič, Metrostav’s construction team leader, told Blesk. Now we are just waiting for the approval.
Everyone thought about it. They’re inside special parking for cars on liquefied propane-butane (LPG) or natural gas (CNG), parking with chargers for electric vehicles, larger parking spaces for families with children, the disabled and smaller ones for motorcycles. Cyclists will have a separate lockable space for their bikes.
Passage center
“I think it will be a parking lot in Prague at the moment,” praises the Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě). The park house replaced the previous area for vehicles, which are three hundred seats. The traffic in the city center should be relieved. Drivers without a permanent residence in Prague often come to the center of the metropolis, where they subsequently I can’t find parking, so they circle the streets or stand inappropriately and thus block the flow of traffic.
“I see the car park as a big shift in terms of the infrastructure of the whole city, but also as good news for Central Bohemia, which will not block crowded streets,” says Petr Hukal (Pirates), Deputy Mayor of Prague 14 and Transport Councilor. The price for one parking day costs fifty crowns. There will be 886 parking spaces.
A large light board at the arrival from the east will inform the driver about the number of free seats. A free – occupied board will also be installed on the facade. In the future, TSK is said to be planning an information system in an application that will inform about the occupancy of parking spaces in parking garages.
Safety first
Right on the first floor at the entrance there is a control room. The operator will supervise about sixty cameras located inside and outside the building. They will immediately notice any problem and be able to respond to it. The floor marked as -1 will be used for cars powered by LPG or CNG.
“The whole floor is structurally separated from the rest of the building. In the event of an alarm, the foils are pulled over the entrances or entrances and part of the building is separated from the rest of the building, ”describes Martin Frič. When it happens Crisis situation, there is also air conditioning in the building, which diverts the leaked gas to the roof of the building. There are also emergency exits in the parking house.
Good background
Even electric cars will not come short. Eight parking spaces are reserved for us, they are chargers with a capacity of up to 22 kilowatts. The standard charging time will be around six hours. It will depend on how low the battery comes from the driver.
You will pay for electricity together with a parking space when leaving the house. The parking lot has good facilities for pedestrian. You are here sanitary facilities, elevators and a completely new exit to the subway across the footbridge. One floor below it is the exit, which opens onto the sidewalk under the footbridge.
