Occupied more than 300 intensive care beds in Austria
According to the authorities, the number of beds in intensive care units occupied by Covid patients has exceeded the threshold of 300 in Austria. Thus, with a delay of one week, stage two of the five-stage corona measures are gold-plated.
Visits to the night gastronomy and other large events are then only possible for those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated. On Tuesday, 317 intensive care beds were needed for corona patients, an increase of 25 compared to the previous day. The number of patients in the normal wards increased particularly significantly – by 145 to 1,600.
The number of new infections within 24 hours was 5398, which, taking into account the number of inhabitants, would correspond to almost 50,000 likes in Germany. The seven-day incidence climbed to 400 cases per 100,000 population. The federal states of Salzburg, Upper and Lower Austria are particularly affected. Should the situation worsen, there would be the threat of drastic restrictions for unvaccinated persons, which could even result in a lockdown for this group.
