Despite its introduction, the health pass continues to generate a lot of ink Luxembourg.
After a fourth white march organized against the new health measures and the various reactions of the unions, it is the turn of the citizens to mobilize against the application of CovidCheck.
On the government website, a petition against the obligation to present the health pass in public institutions and private companies are circulating.
“A threat to fundamental freedoms”
For the petitioner, the idea is simply to “preserve the right of access to public institutions for all citizens regardless of whether or not CovidCheck is presented and to ensure equal opportunities in the labor market for any citizen without being conditioned on the possession of a health passport ”.
Indeed, to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the government of Luxembourg now authorizes companies, public or private, to introduce the health pass in their premises.
According to the proposal, this extension of CovidCheck is a obstruction of the right of free movement and access to the labor market, not to mention that it creates “an inequality of opportunity between owners and non-owners of the health pass”.
In itself, it is a “threat to fundamental freedoms” which “divides society in two”.
Already more than 4,000 signatures
Arguments that seem to have convinced a large public because the petition is a resounding success.
Online for another 31 days, it already has 4,100 signatures, this Tuesday, November 2, 2021, out of the 4,500 needed to be debated by deputies and competent ministers.
