WINDHOEK (ANP/RTR) – Namibia no longer carries chicken and other poultry and related products from the Netherlands due to the outbreak of bird flu in our country. Also for products from Germany, where the whole products from Germany were used, the borders of the country in the download of Africa are closed.
Except for the import of live ostriches and raw ostrich meat. Some shipments of poultry from the Netherlands and Germany are refused, the government of the African country announced. These will be changed at the importer’s expense.
Namibia is only a small trading partner of the Netherlands. Figures from the CBS showed that last year about 2 million euros worth of meat products was taken to the country. Chicken and other poultry are just part of that. Until June this year, the export value of meat to Namibia was less than 1 million euros.
Since last week, a general confinement obligation has been found at a company in Zeewolde. The virus was also found at a company in Grootschermer in North Holland this weekend.
