Florence Entertainment | Lunch with Mimesi, Tenuta di Ghizzano | Wine News
Accomplices the scialatielli and the turbot of chef Antonio Minichiello and the impeccable direction of Claudia Rosati, manager of the restaurant, the Ghizzano estate, a wine-growing jewel on the soft Pisan Hills about 30 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, has “taken to the field” in Florence to preview its new project mimesis, a further step forward in the producer’s oenological “reflections”, the fascinating Ginevra Venerosi Pesciolini who with passion and competence continued his father’s work, in the name of the integrity and expressiveness of his territory.
“After a period of research and experimentation – explains Ginevra – we have chosen the Cocciopesto Drunk Turtle and Tava terracotta wine vessels to give shape to this new project, Mimesi, concretized for now in a first Sangiovese in purity DOC Terre di Pisa and a 100% Vermentino IGT Costa Toscana ”.
Two types of amphora consistent with the company’s production philosophy: respect and exaltation of the fruit in its purity and authentic expression of the territory. Thanks to its particular porosity, the amphora reproduces the slow aging of wine and promotes micro-oxygenation.
“For the Mimesi – continue we have chosen the historic vineyards and recovered ancient methods re-proposed in a modern key, which have allowed us to achieve this beautiful result of terroir wines. Following the dictates of biodynamic agriculture since 2006, the company offers the Sangiovese which to enhance its personality evolves for 14 months in the wine jar. The Vermentino which instead spends 4 months in TAVA Terracotta amphora on the fine lees “.

Tenuta di Ghizzano is a biosystem of 350 hectares, of which 20 are vineyards and the same number of olive groves, which revolve around the ancient watchtower. At its foot an Italian garden, the cellar insinuates itself under the foundations of the Villa and the vineyards, all around, draw Renaissance landscapes.
The range is divided into some historical wines, Veneroso and Nambrot,.
Veneroso DOC Terre di Pisa, is the first wine of Tenuta di Ghizzano, born in 1985 and today the historical standard-bearer of the company. It is a Sangiovese with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Nambrot, a Geneva enological creature based on Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, is a contemporary wine, which takes its name from the founder of the dynasty, Count Nambrot, who lived in the time of Charlemagne.
The Ghizzano (Sangiovese with a pinch of Merlot) e The White Ghizzano (cuvée of Vermentino, Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca) are instead the visiting cards of the Estate: highly drinkable, fresh and fruity wines.
This was added in 2020 ViadiMezzo 2017, a unicum of pure Sangiovese produced in only exemplary artistic projects, in honor of the project that involved the artist David Tremlett and an entire street in the village of Ghizzano.
