October 31, Minsk / Corr. BELTA /. The level of utilization of municipal waste in Belarus will reach 90% by 2035. This was stated by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk in the “Week” program on the TV channel STB, BelTA informs.
Andrei Khudyk notes that about 4 million municipal waste is generated in Belarus a year, of which about 280 thousand tons are waste. According to him, Belarus occupies a leading position in the post-Soviet space for the development of the waste sector. “We have the best indicator for the involvement of municipal waste in the economic circulation. This year we plan to get about 30% of the involvement in the economic circulation – this year we plan to involve 79% of municipal waste in the economic circulation, by 2035 – 90%.
This year, a ban on the use of certain types of plastic dishes has been introduced in public catering. “To date, there are results. We have reduced the amount of plastic in catering facilities. Basically, these are small-piece goods – about 140 million units. We will replace it with local raw materials, primarily environmentally friendly and renewable ones.
Andriy Khudyk also spoke about the results of the seventh session of the third-party Aarhus Convention. With regard to Belarus, it was decided that the country should be allowed for violation of Belarusian legislation. Anything is discussed, but not this. And no matter how much our member tries to tell, to prove on practical documents, to convince – he did not want to hear us, – he introduced. law.
The minister added that the Ministry of Natural Resources is consulting with government agencies and will make a decision on further participation in this convention. -0-
