Lionesses tie in Ourém | Sporting Clube de Portugal official website
Game with difficult conditions and a guardian who defended everything
Sporting Clube de Portugal’s women’s football team drew 0-0 this Sunday at CA Ouriense in a game of the fifth round of the South Zone of the BPI League.
An encounter of high difficulty due to the weather conditions and a synthetic turf in poor condition. Despite this, the Lionesses, commanded by Mariana Cabral, were confirmed as favoritism, by dominating the match from start to finish, against a CA Ouriense who was very defensive.
Even so, Sporting CP managed to reach the area several times and created several scoring opportunities, but saw Bárbara Pisco make an excellent performance and defend everything.
After wasted by Chandra Davidson, Joana Martins and Fátima Pinto, the home team’s goalkeeper said ‘present’ and denied the goal to Melisa Hasanbegović with Chandra Davidson, in the rebound, failing to score again. Then it was Diana Silva who was close to the goal, but without success and so the break came with 0-0 in the scoreboard.
In the second half, despite all the difficulties, as Leoas remained focused on the goal of CA Ouriense, with Diana Silva, in the 55th minute, having another opportunity to score, but Bárbara Pisco denied her the goal.
Looking for victory, Mariana Cabral refreshed the team in the 74th minute, bringing in Ana Teles and Inês Gonçalves, replacing Chandra Davidson and Fátima Pinto. The course of the match did not change and shortly afterwards CA Ouriense was outnumbered, after Fernanda Peinado was sent off after seeing the second yellow card.
Playing with one more, Sporting CP kept the rhythm, controlling the match and looking for the goal in all shapes and sizes. Rita Fontemanha, who had replaced Joana Martins, still tried to surprise Bárbara Pisco, in the final minutes, with a shot from distance, but the home team’s keeper managed to hold the result and divide the points.
Penalty and unfair result for Sporting CP, which returns to play next Sunday at Atlético CP’s home.
