a new feline seen near Arras, an important security device deployed
According to several descriptions, the animal would not be the same as the one seen for the first time on October 13 near Auxi-le-Château, and still sought after since.
An important security device was deployed this Sunday morning between Dainville and Achicourt, near Arras (Pas-de-Calais), after a feline was seen during the night, relates The voice of the North. Police officers, gendarmes, a veterinarian, as well as louveterie lieutenants and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
According to our colleagues, it is a motorist who gave the alert after seeing the animal, around 3 am this Sunday. On October 13, and again on Wednesday, a large feline was seen near Auxi-le-Château, approximately 50 kilometers from Dainville and Achicourt. The animal, probably a puma, has still not been neutralized.
Not the same animal as in Auxi
For safety and following this report, a crew of the BAC was deployed and a sight of the animal. The road in question was cut and the animal located in a grove. A fight was organized, without success. The device was lifted at midday and the research abandoned.
According to the sub-prefect Frédéric Sampson, quoted by our colleagues, this animal is not the same as that observed at Auxi-le-Château.
“According to the visual descriptions, we would not be on the same animal as Auxi. There, it is an animal with a spotted coat. The intervention of the helicopter confirmed that there was a feline in the grove, without being able to determine its size, whether it is a big cat or a small feline, “he detailed.
“We have raised the doubt that it was not a large feline dangerous for the population,” he added.
