Piazza della Repubblica in Florence welcomed a few thousand people today – mostly young – coming from all over Tuscany, to protest against the stop of the Zan Bill. The demonstration, peaceful and without party flags as requested by the organizers, was promoted by the associations of the LGBTIQA + community. The chorus `Shame, shame´ has been sung several times, as well as harsh stances against the leader of Italy Viva Matteo Renzi, considered by the rainbow groups to be among the main responsible for the sinking of the Zan Bill.
Among those present also the regional councilor with responsibility for gender policies Alessandra Nardini. “Those scenes of exultation seen in Parliament – commented – they are shameful and not up to par with our society. The square of Florence has proved to be very advanced, like those of other cities in Italy. We have lost a battle, but it is not over and we must not give up ». At the political level, he added, “the Democratic Party must go forward with strength. Solidarity is no longer enough, but concrete acts are needed: politics had the opportunity to take a step forward and it was decided not to do so. Renzi’s statements against the Democratic Party are unfair, we have always had a clear and clear position “. Among those present also the councilor of Palazzo Vecchio for rights and equal opportunities Benedetta Albanese, the municipal councilor for welfare Sara Funaro, the president of the commission on rights and equal opportunities Mimma Dardano, the regional councilor Andrea Vannucci. «Today’s square has shown what the real country is and where the people are – said Albanese -. In the Senate we played with the future of our country, we missed a great opportunity ».
No problems of public order and no `contact ‘with the other demonstration taking place in the city, the one to protest against the Green Pass, whose (authorized) procession did not pass through Piazza della Repubblica.
