Cracovia is the first Polish champion. 100 years of games
The Polish league will play in 1927 – history tells. However, we also met the first Polish champion after the league games. I am 100 years ago. Cracovia triumphed at that time.
The idea of creating a football league was born at the end of 1926, in Poland, which was already engulfed in Sanation, shortly after the May coup. There was one collection in history, fifteen, post against PZ, end rebellion than ninety from ninety. The league started and in 1927 Wisła Kraków became the first champion of the Polish Premier League before the German club 1.FC Katowice and Warta Poznań.
And before?
The previous league games weren’t biased, that doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. Since the dawn of the Polish championship in the competition system, I create a collective table, i.e. a league system, and the champion of the champion is to be selected. The first one, 100 years ago.
On October 30 this year, we would remember the 101st anniversary of the election of another urgent Polish champion, had it not been for the difficult history of the Polish state reborn after the World War. That she would parry the whole sport in the country, when in the late summer of 1920 the Bolshevik arm approached Warsaw and threatened her pupil to take advantage of the existence of the Second Polish Republic.
Poland was then getting ready to make its debut at the Olympic Games held in Antwerp, Belgium. She did not go to them, which was a great blow to Poland. The invitation of the young state to the Olympics was a great and propaganda success of our diplomacy, and especially it was issued in 1919, because it was just signed with the achievement of the Greater Poland armistice in Trier, plebiscites were organized in Silesia, and no Polish Olympic structure existed yet.

It was not possible to establish the PZP until the first N inspection was carried out, which was during the first of its first congress of 31 Polish clubs just before Christmas Eve 1919. A national championship before the introduction of technical first aid, played in World War II legally in Galicia and a teacher by … Polish Football Association, but ten locals, Lviv-Krakow and disbanded in 1920, and illegal in Greater Poland. They were created after the rebellion of Polish clubs for throwing footballer Marian Sroka from a match in 1912 in a match against German Britania for using Polish services. All Polish clubs in the region rebelled then, headed by Posnania and Warta Poznań.
The whole country, divided into districts, from Poznań to Vilnius and from Katowice to Stanisławów, has been achieved. Before the Bolshevik invasion, only a small part of the match was played in the districts, e.g. Krakow selected Cracovia, which advanced to the final and central games at the expense of the Krakow Wisła and the Jewish clubs Jutrzenka and Makkabi Krakow. Games began in the Lviv district, where Czarni Lwów led before the Lwów Pogoń, Polonia Przemyśl and Rewera Stanisławów, as well as in Poznań, where the local Warta was ahead of Unia, Posnania, Pogoń (but Poznań, because it did exist) and Ostrovia Ostrów Wlkp. in the fight between Warsaw and Łódź, then the fate of the state paralyzed sport. We Lviv did not give up the longest, even at the beginning of June 1920, but it soon became clear that we would not recognize the Polish champion in 1920.
The final tournament was to start on August 29, 1920. The Red Army then retreated in haste, but who might have known at the point …
The first Polish champion was the leading champion … of the second national champions, as the games were called in 1921. In those days, the rivalry took place as spring – autumn, the system we know now – the systemic system – spring in Poland, in the next, now, already in the pre-war leagues, previously in the league – only in 1962.
The rules were the same – qualifying rounds in five district, regional districts, of which the best teams qualified for the finals. The final was a tournament played according to league rules. Now we formally resemble the next football league, then the next one, the next champion of the emerging play-off competition and league.
The results almost coincided with those found in the Polish-Bolshevik war. Cracovia was promoted from Kraków, and Warta from Poznań (Stella Gniezno also competed against her). The dive in Lviv was improved by Pogoń, not Czarni. From Warsaw, Polonia was promoted (ahead of the Warsaw teams of Korona and WKS), and Łódź-ŁKS (before Turystami, ŁTSG, Szturm, Union, Strong and the Jewish club Barkochba). They were not prepared for the championship by the reach of all regions of the Republic of Poland. They showed for it which are used to help, to help Warsaw.
In the final competition and matches, everyone from Krakow did not lose even once and at the beginning he was the first Polish champion with only one draw, 2 in the very best location, second place in Warta in 1921. Rolna, “next to the last stop of the electric line No. 2”, as it was written. “The most unexpectedly was Warta for a draw with Cracovia”. – commented “Polski Sport”, adding that the team from Poznań had lifted their players from access on their hands.
The second Polonia Warszawa and the third Warta Poznań had three defeats, Pogoń Lwów – five, the weakest ŁKS, Łódź not a victory.
The highest attendance was recorded during the holiday between Cracovia and Pogoń Lwów, which was attended by 10,000 people, including several hundred Lviv fans, as well as – as the press reported – numerous patients and others from Zakopane. “Amidst the deathly silence and the incredible tension of their nerves, with bated breath, they followed every moment of the fight of two worthy of every opponent” – wrote “Przegląd Sportowy”.
“Cracovia, in spite of its failures, has recently managed to defeat Pogoń quality 2-0, which result does not even digitally represent its advantage.” – added “Dwutygodnik Sportowy”.
On October 30, 1921, the surface years ago, Cracovia sealed the away victory of 5-2 against Pogoń in Lviv, with two goals from the patron of its stadium, Józef Kałuża – the top scorer of the season.
The trophies were distributed, and immediately on their side you have to add complaints about costs, high for amateur players. Warta’s trip to Lviv was an eight-hour one-way rail journey. But without mastery, there will be no development. Warta, for example, would never gain a new stadium and continue to play in meadows and city squares.
There were also other problems. The match of Warta Polonia Warszawa in Poznań was to be led by the captain, appointed by the PZPN Judges College, Longin Dudryk-Darlewski. The problem is that the college decided that it was enough to pass the notification with a press release in Przegląd Sportowy, and it was not enough. The referee did not read the newspapers and did not make it to the match.
The match team was led by the referee from Poznań – Zygmunt Górecki (on a daily basis a pharmacist and president of OZPN Poznań). However, there were complaints about his bias and lack of decisiveness in making decisions. Captain Dudryk-Darlewski was fined 10,000 Polish marks.
