Suspicion of favoritism in a town near Lyon
According to Le Progrès, the town of Gleizé, north of Lyon, has entrusted communication missions to a company run by a member of the family of the current mayor and the former mayor, without competition.
According to Progress, the municipality would have delegated communication missions to a company run by a family member of the current mayor Ghislain de Longevialle and the former mayor Elisabeth Lamure, without competition.
Brother of the current mayor, and brother-in-law of the former elected
Between 2006 and 2017, more than 90 works were entrusted to him, for an amount of 204,000 euros including tax : brochures of the cultural seasons, municipal bulletins, the Town’s website, the greeting cards of the former mayor, town maps, invitations to heritage days, etc.
At the head of this structure: the mayor’s brother, who is also the former mayor’s brother-in-law, since the two elected officials were married five years ago.
Asked by Progress, Elisabeth Lamure claims to have followed the rules. If she does not formally deny a possible favoritism, she sweeps the suspicion of illegal taking of interests mentioned by specialized lawyers, and consulted by the Lyon daily.
