Portugal Renewable Energy Summit 2021 will bring together 50 national and international experts
The Portugal Renewable Energy Summit is back on November 9th and 10th, where more than 1 will gather 50 experts national and international to debate the theme “Renewables, engine of economic recovery”. The 2021 edition takes place in a hybrid format, and the in-person event will take place at Culturgest’s Grand Auditorium, in Lisbon.
An annual conference of APPREN – Portuguese Association of Renewable Energies this year has the presence of the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, João Pedro Matos Fernandes, and the Deputy Secretary of State and Energy, João Galamba.
“Fit for 55 – the new European ambition” will be the theme on the table in the first panel, in which the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will make an initial speech. There will be a debate with five MEPs, Graça Carvalho, Carlos Zorrinho, Marisa Matias, Nuno Melo and Sandra Pereira. The second panel will have the theme “Will the new framework for renewables be sufficient to meet the targets?”, where Paula Pinho, Head of the Energy Directorate General Unit at the European Commission, and Alejandro Donnay, Head of Energy Unit for State Aid at the European Commission, ensure the first initials. This is followed by the third panel, which will debate the topic “The evolution of electricity prices in the Iberian market”.
On the second day, the focus will be on the Portuguese reality. The opening session will be in charge of the Deputy Secretary of State and for Energy, followed by the debate on “Simplifying the licensing of renewable projects” with Nuno Lacasta (APA), Nuno Banza (ICNF) and Maria José Espírito Santo (DGEG ) During the day, several speakers will include the themes “the path to 2.5 GW of Green Hydrogen”, “self-consumption, such as energy communities and energy efficiency”, “network strategy, consumption flexibility and storage ”, “Large-scale photovoltaic solar photography in 2030” and “how to boost the increase of renewable power in Portugal?”. Finally, the event will feature the testimony of the Minister of Environment and Climate Action.
During the conference, there will also be a ceremony for the exercise of the ABREN 2021 Award – an initiative that aims to disseminate academic master’s dissertations related to electricity from renewable sources.
