Almost 1,000 runners for the festival anniversary
Over two days, the Innerhofer brothers presented themselves strongly and won the Amadeus Trail.
The Trailrunning Festival Salzburg 2021 took place over three days. Almost 1,000 participants took part in the tenth edition of the announced trail running festival, making this year’s one a highlight in the history of the event. Once again, various competitions were offered as part of the long running weekend, so that there was something for everyone. The trail marathon and the Amadeus trail, among others, received a lot of attention. There were several runs to be mastered in both competitions. The sum of the times of the individual runs was decisive for the final result list. While Anke Friedl and Hans-Peter Innerhofer as well as Manuel Innerhofer won the Trail Amadeus, Corinna Choun and Balthasar Laireiter prevailed in the trail marathon.

With the start of the night run on Friday, October 22nd at 7:00 p.m. Feld, the trail running festival Salzburg 2021 started. Around 1,000 runners had come and gave their best from Friday to Sunday. The slightly undulating race over 5.5 kilometers was decided on Friday evening by Felix Gramelsberger from SC Ainring in 17:58 minutes. He was ahead of Sudhir Batra (running club Nussdorf, 18:55 minutes) and Michael Sassnink from Odelzhausen (18:58 minutes). In the women’s category, Therese Wagenleitner (ASV Salzburg LA) won in 21:32 minutes, eleven seconds ahead of Hannah Sassnink (LC Aichach, 21:43 minutes). Third was Madelaine Parmar (Brighton Phoenix, 22:13 minutes). With that, however, Parmar was only 0.1 seconds ahead of Corinna Choun, who hit the gas right at the start of the multi-day trail marathon.

Saturday then started at 2 p.m. with the runs of the children’s trail. Depending on their age, the young athletes tackle distances between 120 meters and 1,340 meters. The participants were divided into five different age groups and distances. Almost 120 children aged eleven and under took part. At 4:15 p.m., the adults who had decided on the 13-kilometer fortress path or the 6.4-kilometer panorama trail followed. In addition to the participants who only decided on a distance, the starters of the Trail Amadeus trail marathon also took part in the fortress trail. Johannes Nussbaumer (Salomon Running Team) reached the first runner after 52:40 minutes and thus with a clear lead in the inner courtyard of the Hohensalzburg Fortress. He was followed by Felix Mayerhöfer (Team Salming Running – DJK Dasswang, 56:53 minutes) and Lukas Schaidreiter from Seekirchen (1:00:14 hours). In the women’s category, Ida-Sophie Hegemann (The North Face) from Duderstadt prevailed in 1:04:00 hours. The remaining podium places went to Corinna Choun (Tristyle, 1:07:30 hours) and Hannah Sassnink (1:07:45 hours). Harald Feuchter (City Police Command Salzburg, 24:46 minutes) and again Therese Wagenleitner (29:33 minutes), who had already won the night run, won the panorama trail. By the way, Feuchter was just 0.26 seconds ahead of Michael Sassnink, who came in second.
Up to the Gaisbergspitze
At the end of the trail running weekend, the Gaisberg Trail and the 8-kilometer Gaisbergrace went around again. Both runs started at 9:45 a.m. While Matthias Waldauf (Ski-Willy Marathon Team Austria, 1:10:15 hours) and Sabine Hofer (LAC Salzburg, 1:23:16 hours) won the Gaisbergrace, Andreas Schindler (Hoka One One .), 2:02:43 hours) and Corinna Choun (2:46:24 hours). Andrea Zogsberger (LG Innviertel / Dynafit Trailhero, 2:49:08 hours) and Johanna Bucher from Team Grabensee ( 2:51:58 hours) as well as Hekmatullah Darwishi (2:06:04 hours) and Thomas Plamberger (Kolland Topsport Gaal, 2:06:32 hours).

After two exhausting races, Hans-Peter Innerhofer and Manuel Innerhofer were able to celebrate the victory of the Trail Amadeus in 2:45:46 hours. Your team mate Georg Gröll (Salomon Running Team, 2:58:12 hours) and Matthias Flade (DJK SC Vorra / new balance team, 3:07:04 hours) came in on the other places. In the women’s category, Anke Friedl (Team Schamel) won in 3:44:47 hours with a clear lead over Pia Aigner (4:08:10 hours) and Eva Aschaber (BLT-Bludenz, 4:13:39 hours). The starters of the trail marathon were even more challenged, finally having three runs from Friday to Sunday. Here Corinna Choun was the outstanding runner. You won in a total time of 4:16:08 hours. Bianca Brandelmayr (YOLO Crew, 5:05:34 hours) was second, Laura Schadow (Flying Fuchs, 5:20:03 hours) third. In the men’s race, Balthasar Laireiter was the fastest out of 60 finishers. He ran 3:40:53 hours and won so close ahead of Felix Mayrhöfer (3:41:11 hours) and Lukas Schaidreiter (3:46:36 hours).
