After two successes, then three consecutive defeats against Barcelona, Madrid and Baskonia, AS Monaco found a smile in the Euroleague on Tuesday, October 26, by winning against Red Star Belgrade (70-62).
In a well-stocked Gaston-Médecin room, Monaco dominated the first part of the match (41-36 at mid-match) despite a Mike James turned off. The American finished at zero points in eight minutes and a half spent on the floor during the first two quarters. And the ASM star point guard scored just eight small points over the rest of the game, including two on the buzzer.
But the premises fortunately relied on his compatriot, winger Alpha Diallo, author of a very good performance and decisive in the last minutes. The former Greek league resident has scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, his best record of the season so far. Opposite, the Serbian team could count on a good Nate Wolters, the former de Chalon (18 points).
On Friday, the Monegasques will face CSKA Moscow in the Principality in an attempt to glean a fourth victory in seven matches. Mike James will certainly wish to offer revenge to his supporters than to himself since he left the Moscow club in April on very bad terms.
