The visits to the schools of the Deputy Mayor with responsibility for educational policies, Chiara Bellini, start from the “Coccinella”, the kindergarten symbol of Rimini’s Outdoord education
The children, teachers and staff of the Coccinella kindergarten this morning hosted the first institutional visit of the Deputy Mayor with responsibility for the educational policies of the Municipality of Rimini, Chiara Bellini. It is also a symbolic choice, given that it is the kindergarten that first experimented with outdoor education many years ago. A real teaching method of outdoor education that the Municipality of Rimini has then expanded to a number of schools that are growing year after year, thanks to training and structural. To date, more than half the schools and infant-toddler centers of the Municipality of Rimini are adopting it, with training for teachers and staff developed in partnership with the Department of Sciences for the quality of life of the University of Bologna. Fiera is located in the urban city center and, thanks to the large green space that surrounds it, is one of the protagonists of outdoor education. Its particular position, in the green, has made it possible to implement training projects, including innovative ones, on respect and protection of the environment, recycling, plant care, using both internal and external spaces. In fact, its garden reproduces on a scale some natural areas such as the pond, the vegetable garden, the orchard, the greenhouse. Our school is organized into three sections that tend to be homogeneous by age, with games, materials, centers and specialized corners that are distinguished according to the needs of children. “A truly intense moment – is the comment of Chiara Bellini, Deputy Mayor with responsibility for educational policies of the Municipality of Rimini – which also moved me. Being able to interact with younger children, participate even for a few moments in their activities, see with how much care and professionalism the staff and teachers take care of them, were moments of great emotion. La Coccinella was chosen as the initial stage of a journey that will lead me to visit Rimini’s schools and nurseries because, symbolically, it represents the starting point of our outdoor education. Today, unfortunately, the climate has not smiled at us and we have not been able to visit the outdoor spaces, which will certainly be an important part of the stages in the kindergartens and nurseries of our city ”.
