International friendly football: Swedish Hammarby IF beat India’s ladies 3-2
Senior Indian Women’s Team played a friendly match against Sweden’s Hammarby IF last night. The match was held at 22:30 IST at Hammarby IP Stadion in Stockholm, Sweden, and was streamed live on Facebook by the official account for AIFF.
While India initially led the match 2-1, the Swedish team eventually leveled at 2-2 before scoring their third goal and winning the match.
Sweden’s goal was scored by Amanda Sundström while Indumathi and Manisa Panna scored the two goals for India.
Start XI for India were: Chauhan, Chhibber, Devi, Panna, Sanju, Basfore, Kathiresan, Tamang, Guguloth, Kalyan, Xaxa.
Start-XI for Sweden were: Gynning, S Holmberg, Wangerheim, Karlsson, Pedersen, Gibson, Jansson, Thörnqvist, Sundström, Lind, Jakobsson.
The Indian team has played a number of friendly matches (including against Chinese Taipei, Tunisia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates) in preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup next year. The major football event will be held in India from January 20 to February 6, 2022.
India will next play against Sweden’s Djurgarden IF team on Saturday. The Indian team is coached by Thomas Dennerby, and has been joined by fitness coach Jane Törnqvist for the Sweden matches.
