They hunted down the Nazis throughout their lives: Beate and Serge Klarsfeld come to Toulouse

The relentless struggle against anti-Semitism and the defense of the cause Jewish deportees in France are the constant battles waged by Beate and Serge Klarsfeld. The couple will be in Toulouse, Thursday 21 and Friday 22 October 2021.
Opening of their exhibition
It is the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne who will welcome them. They come to inaugurate their exhibition ” Beate and Serge Klarsfeld, the battles of memory“. It was designed by the Shoah Memorial and presented in Paris in 2017 and 2018.
“It recreates a decade of fights carried by the Klarsfeld couple, between 1968 and 1978, since the founding act of the slap or the tribune, until the verdict of the Cologne trial of February 11, 1980 ″ indicates the Department.
The exhibition will be open to the public from October 22, 2021 to May 8, 2022, at the Departmental Museum of Resistance and Deportation, in Toulouse.
The exhibition brings together panels retracing the major stages in the life of the Klarsfeld couple, archival photographs and even original objects. It will also highlight the victims of anti-Semitic persecution in Haute-Garonne, the mechanisms of repression that organized the Shoah, but also those who fought against Nazism and the collaboration of Vichy.
A large panel of four meters will present “some of the 168 Jewish children deported from Haute-Garonne”. Three films will also be presented during this exhibition: “The fight of a woman” (1973), “Beate and Serge Klarsfeld, The fighters of memory, 1968-1978”, and the press conference of Beate Klarsfeld, broadcast in the 8 p.m. TV News (1972).
Inauguration of the Noah Camp Memorial
The other highlight of the Klarsfeld couple’s visit will be the inauguration of the Noah Camp Memorial, scheduled for Friday, October 22. Max Cazarre, the mayor, Cecile Lenglet, sub-prefect of Muret, Solomon Attia, president of CRIFF Midi-Pyrénées and Henri Farreny, of the Association of former Spanish guerrillas, but also Georges Meric, president of the Haute-Garonne department, will be present.

The Departmental Museum of Resistance & Deportation strengthens, through this exhibition, its duty of transmission and its educational mission.
” It is an honor to receive Beate and Serge Klarsfeld ”, appreciated the elected departmental. It is at 10:45 am that the inauguration of the Noah Memorial will take place.
Born in Bucharest (Romania) Serge Klarsfeld married Beate Auguste Künzel in 1963, a Berliner. Aged 86 and 82 today, they work tirelessly for the memory of the Shoah.
