Is Rhys Healey the savior of Toulouse?
The 26-year-old British player arrived at Toulouse Football Club on August 27, 2020. This is the first time he has been exported since the start of his career after having toured several English and Scottish clubs, often in lower divisions. What can he bring to Toulouse residents?
A goalscorer as we like them
Rhys Healey plays in the center forward position and is proving to be a top scorer. Already in his previous club, Milton Keynes Dons, he was applauded by the supporters with a tribute song whose lyrics are evocative: “His name is Rhys Healey, he scores every week …”, understand: “His name is Rhys Healey , he scores every week… ”. And indeed, during the last season, within MK Dons, Healey has scored 12 goals in 20 games. His English teammates have also voted him the best player of the 2020 season.
A remarkable arrival
From September 26, 2020, barely a month after his arrival at Toulouse, Rhys Healey scores a goal against AJ Auxerre, participating in the first victory for the Violets since October 2019. He has successfully completed matches, since December 22 , he becomes a pillar of the club by being the only player to have scored in each of his tenures.
These are, in fact, seven but marked for six games played. He was then elected best player of the month of December and he ranks among the best players in Ligue 2. On February 27, 2021, the striker scored his tenth goal under the Toulouse colors, a symbolic bar of the performance of the Englishman.
A less impressive year
The year 2021 did not equal the previous season for Healey. The probable cause, a calf injury which would have slowed down the new Toulousain in his prize list. This year, his actions have been less decisive, we see a slowdown that we hope to pass until the English player fully recovers from his injury.
New victories expected
Toulouse’s last match against AJ Auxerre shows that the Violets have not said their last word. A crushing victory, six goals to zero, due in part to the English striker who returns to performance since it is a double that he offered to the supporters during this match completely mastered by a Toulouse team well above the level of his opponent auxerrois. It is for this reason that the bookmaker Betclic, one of the most popular betting sites according to reviews on Fiable.net, predicts a fairly low odds, 2.50 (October 19), on the fact that Toulouse wins the 2021/2022 championship.
Against AJ Auxerre, from the fourth minute, Healey deceived the opposing goalkeeper and the score was already three goals to zero at the 25th minute of play. He puts the fifth but of the match in the second period, at the 72th minute. This is good after several successive defeats.
Stay at the top of the board
Rhys Healey will have to be carefully followed, who has just achieved the title of top scorer, tied with Gaëtan Charbonnier, player of AJ Auxerre, thanks to his seventh but of the season in the league. For now, Toulouse remain at the top of Ligue 2.
