Delfi Tv airs new show “Future Generation”
The overuse of natural resources, growing consumerism and a rapidly warming climate are driving humanity into a crisis of unprecedented proportions. It is already being said that in the not too distant future, society may face challenges such as freshwater shortages, the increasing risk of bus emergencies, and further social and property inequalities likely to fuel more conflict and non-communication between large sections of society. So what will we leave for future generations?
It was this sensitive issue that led Delfi’s creative team to create a new TV show, The Future Generation. Although the problems are serious and complex, there are places for jokes and, in very practical cases, for domestic issues. This show is part of the new Delfi initiative “Sustainable Lithuania”.
“It may seem that Lithuania is too small to make a change in global processes. However, nothing prevents us from becoming a sustainable example for the country. The Delphi portal also often becomes a flagship in one area or another and this time we have decided when time will choose to focus on the topic of sustainability, look at it from a new, different angle and show that it is not only relevant, possible but also very interesting. Especially since we are seeing a growing interest in this topic, ”says the interim chief of Delfi. editor Kęstutis Cemnolonskis.
Meanwhile, the producer of the show Rimantė Zarembaitė laughs that even her own initial idea of the TV show wants to be boring.
“I had to turn my head well to what lies behind that concept of sustainability and, I will not lie, the creative process was not very easy, artificial. However, the endless ideas of journalists also helped a lot here. I hope that the audience will also feel and understand that sustainability is not a problem for a neighbor or another yard, ”R. Zarembaitė shares her thoughts.
The producer of the show is glad that the actors Emilija Latėnaitė and Juozas Gaižauskas joined the “Future Generation” team and took the chairs.
Gintarė Bakūnaitė, the head of the Sustainable Lithuania initiative, is glad that the teams of the show’s creators looked at the topic of sustainability very extensively and creatively.
“The most valuable thing is that viewers of the show can get very simple practical advice and, I guess, open the initial track of their daily activities for business. Or even give up machine shops, how much can you save by driving an electric car, how to tidy up the fridge so there is no food left over? The answers to these questions will be on the show and it will definitely come in handy. We sometimes talk about sustainability in a very abstract way, with various slogans, but basically there are very simple, household issues behind it all, ”says G. Bakūnaitė.

She adds that viewers of the show could get a glimpse into the knowledge behind the scenes of Lithuanian people’s lives – and how do they solve these issues? Of course, the show will not soon have hot, topical and in-depth discussions on serious and complex topics of sustainability, climate change and equality.
Watch the show “Ateities karta” on the “Delfi Tv channel” every Monday at 20.00, and on the portal delfi.lt every Sunday at 10.00.
