Portugal with 10 more deaths by covid-19, all outside Lisbon – Coronavirus
This Friday there were 612 more cases in Portugal of people infected by covid-19 and 10 deaths caused by the virus, according to data revealed this Saturday, October 16, by the General Directorate of Health (DGS).
There are 16 fewer admissions than on Thursday, for a current total of 285, but four more patients in intensive care, which now house 59 people.
In Portugal, since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,079,341 covid-19 infections and 18,088 deaths have been detected.
The number of recovered patients this Friday was 703 people, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,031,142.
Thus, active cases, which are calculated by subtracting recovered patients and deaths from the total number of confirmed cases, dropped by 101 compared to Thursday, to 30,111.
The number of contacts under the surveillance of health authorities decreased to 21,630, 204 fewer than the day before.
According to data contained in the DGS bulletin, all 10 deaths recorded this Friday occur outside the Lisbon region.
The regions of Centro and Alentejo reported three deaths each, with the first registering 126 more infections in the last 24 hours, while in Alentejo there were 26 more.
The other four deaths occurred in the North (two), Algarve (one) and Madeira (one) regions, where a further 164, 26 and 11 infections were detected, respectively.
Lisbon counted over 240 new cases and the Azores 3.
In accumulated terms, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo total 7,704 deaths, the North totals 5,581, the Center accounts for 3,168, the Alentejo 1,044, the Algarve 474, Madeira 73 and the Azores 44.
