Covid-19 in Portugal: ten deaths and 612 infections | Coronavirus
Portugal recorded on Friday ten deaths and 612 infections by the new coronavirus, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released this Saturday.
In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,079,341 cases of covid-19 and 18,088 deaths associated with the disease have been reported.
The number of hospitalized patients continues to fall for five days in a row. There are currently 285 hospitalized patients, 16 fewer than in the last balance. In intensive care units, admissions rose and 59 people are now hospitalized, four more than the day before.
Three of the ten deaths were reported in the central region of the country, another three in the Alentejo, two in the North, one in the Algarve and one in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. All fatal deaths were over 70 years old.
Most infections were verified in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, a region that added 240 new cases. This is followed by the North with 164 infections, the Center with 126, the Alentejo with 42 and the Algarve with 26. The Autonomous Region of Madeira reported 11 new cases and the Azores another three.
703 people recovered from the disease in 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,031,142 patients have recovered.
The DGS bulletin also reports 30,111 active cases of the disease, 101 less compared to Thursday. This number is achieved after subtracting the number of deaths and recoveries from the total number of cases.
