Pink October at the Toulouse University Hospital with the players of the XV of France Marjorie Mayans and Gaëlle Hermet
The players of the XV of France, Marjorie Mayans and Gaëlle Hermet, participated in a rugby workshop in front of the Paule de Viguier maternity unit (Toulouse University Hospital) to promote the prevention of breast cancer as part of Pink October.
On the lawn of Purpan, in front of the Paule de Viguier maternity unit (Toulouse University Hospital), the oval balloon circulated in a good mood this Friday, October 15. To transmit it and relay the right messages in the context of Pink October, the midwives had invited the players of the XV of France Gaëlle Hermet and Marjorie Mayans. “We wanted sporting, positive and dynamic figures to promote the fight against breast cancer,” emphasizes Mallory Lenormand, midwife referent for the birth sector at Toulouse University Hospital.
On the program, a rugby workshop conducted with the Rubies association, the first health rugby club born in Toulouse in 2017. “We must play down the discourse on cancer and encourage prevention. Today, we are talking to health professionals, we need them to get everything going again after this Covid period, ”says Stéphanie Motton, gynecological surgeon at the Toulouse-Oncopole Cancer University Institute, president of Rubies.
“Helping promote the right messages is important. If among the people who follow me on social networks I manage to attract the attention of a dozen to breast cancer prevention, it’s won. One in 8 women affected by breast cancer is a lot. The younger we are aware, the more lives we can save, ”says Marjorie Mayans.
The rugby workshop was completed by learning to autopalpation on a bust dedicated to exercise and a conference with Prof. Charlotte Vaysse.
