the Exciting weekend. This is the name of this funny animation offered (in particular) by winegrowers and the actors of the territory of Gaillac, in the Tarn, until Sunday, October 17, 2021. A great opportunity to visit – and to taste! – this vineyard, located about fifty kilometers northeast of Toulouse.
Workshops, concerts… and tastings!
Wine lovers, gourmets, curious and other amateurs of all kinds are eagerly awaited in Gaillac, to enjoy festive and varied activities to discover the vineyard and its riches.
In the program ? Fun workshops, walks, concerts, tastings, a photo workshop, unusual tours, exhibitions, food and wine pairing workshops, shows … Moreabout twenty events are offered for the occasion.
From Gaillac to Fronton, tours around the wine professions
National meeting, Le Fascinant weekend and to discover wine know-how in around fifty vineyards in France, among those of Gaillac and its wine tourism network which counts 111 structures, including 42 domains. Also near Toulouse, the vineyards of Pediment also participate in the event.
The objective of the operation is also to discover the range of professions that revolve around the vineyard trades, and still often remain unknown to the general public. The opportunity to learn how the winegrowers’ suppliers work in the field of cardboard, of the cooperage and of the tools. The sparkling wine cooperative, the laboratory, bottling … or even the conservation of grape varieties and the enhancement of the vineyard thanks to its AOC: the production of wines will no longer hold any secrets for you!
AOP Gaillac, more than 3,000 hectares of vines between Albi and Toulouse
The Gaillac vineyard covers more than 3,000 hectares of vines between Albi and Toulouse, on both banks of the Tarn. It is an old vineyard, which has managed to preserve many indigenous grape varieties, such as Mauzac, Ondenc, Long-de-l’Oeil or Braucol. The production of white wines (dry or sweet) and sparkling wines has been recognized as a protected designation of origin (PDO) since 1938, the production of red wines and rosé wines since 1970.
