Austria continues to be well represented
The general assembly of the European Chamber of Commerce organization Eurochambres elected its top management in an online conference on Friday.
After two periods – and thus after four years – the Upper Austrian Christoph Leitl (72) did not run for office in accordance with the statutes. Luc Frieden, 58, from Luxembourg, was elected to succeed him.
Leitl was the first Eurochambres president to be re-elected to the executive chair after a four-year presidency – he had already headed the European chambers in 2002. He WILL hold the presidency until the end of the year before peace follows. Leitl will continue to be a member of the Presidium as Honorary President.
This means that Austria is strongly represented in the Eurochambres Presidium: The Tyrolean entrepreneur Martha Schultz today, Vice President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, will also serve as Vice President at European Chamber level in the future.
For an exporting country like Austria in particular, having a say in Europe is of enormous importance, Leitl is satisfied in the VOLKSBLATT interview: “That shows an appreciation for the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. Martha Schultz is also very active in matters of women and youth. And it is also an award for Austria. “
Austria also has a strong voice in business beyond Europe: Leitl continues to be the chairman of the global chamber organization “World Chamber Platform”.
