A BOLA – New World League launched in Portugal (Rugby)
Rugby Tens, a World Rugby League of 10, will be launched in Lisbon on the 27th and 28th of November, and the required matches will take place at the Estádio Universitário de Lisboa.
Rugby Tens will have male and female competition, with the emphasis on equal pay and awards for both genders. It is the first competitive rugby format in the world to have equality in the financial aspect, as well as in the competition format, dates and places of play.
The circuit will have four stages. After Lisbon, Rugby Tens will head to Paris (France), Cape Town (South Africa) and Las Vegas (USA).
The team that adds the most points along the stages, combining the results of the men’s and women’s teams, wins the circuit.
In Portugal, Rugby Tens will be organized by Move Sports, with the support of the Portuguese Rugby Federation (FPR).
“FPR is proud to be associated with the organization of the Rugby Tens Championship. Rugby Tens has the potential to become one of the world’s premier tournaments for rugby players around the world. Portugal, and the city of Lisbon, will host this competition with open arms, in the certainty that it will be another contribution to the development of the sport in Portugal”, said Carlos Amado da Silva, President of the Portuguese Rugby Federation.
For Thierry Daupin, co-founder of R10C, «Move Sports was fundamental to bring this event to Lisbon». And explained why:
