Impressive mobilization in aid of Romania. The EU, WHO, Moldova and Hungary support with medicines, equipment and doctors
The European Commission, as well as the neighboring states, mobilized massive assistance to help Romania treat Covid patients after the government activated, at the last moment, EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Thus, the EU supplied Romania with 200 oxygen concentrators from the strategic medical reserve rescEU stored in Lower Countries, 50 oxygen concentrators from Poland and 5,200 vials of monoclonal antibodies from Italy, according to a European Commission statement. In addition, 15 fans and 8 oxygen concentrators will be transported from Denmark in Romania through this mechanism. Raed Arafat announced on Friday that transfer and collection procedures for 12,700 vials of Germany, which is due to arrive next week.
Hungary she also came to Romania’s aid, based on bilateral agreements, and took over several Covid patients, eight of whom have already been transported. Hungary has made available to the Romanian authorities 50 ATI beds for patients with COVID-19 in serious condition, the places being available at the hospitals in Szeged and Debrecen. Hungary also delivered to the Miercurea Ciuc County Hospital 1,000 boxes of Favipiravir Meditop, a medicine for Covid patients.
And Republic of Moldova reacted to the tragedy in Romania. 20 medical staff from Moldova will come to the hospital in Lețcani, Iași County, to help Romania treat COVID patients.
