a pheasant struts in front of the butcher’s shop
The unusual animal scene surprised as much as it amused passers-by in the rue des Pommaries, in Annecy-le-Vieux. Tuesday, October 12, a pheasant in search of adventure was seen in the middle of the afternoon, strolling near the shops. The parade of the bird in an urban environment was immortalized by a reader of the Dauphiné Liberated who wanted to share his cliché to say the least.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen it, the neighborhood merchants too, it made me smile,” comments Élisabeth Dubranna, who was leaving the bakery when she came face to face with the pheasant. “He went back and forth along the facades of shops, he crossed the street, explored the hedges, I found it funny to see him stop in front of the butcher’s window, he strutted quietly”, adds the local resident used to teaching in the Pommaries district.
The story does not say whether the fact of Colchis returned to his favorite forest edge or the surrounding farm from which he could have escaped his enclosure (some varieties are considered domestic). But the gallinaceous parade is a new example of the return of nature to the city and is reminiscent of the unusual wandering this summer of a young female roe deer lost in Annecy-le-Vieux, finally succeeded in early July after more than six weeks of wandering in the gardens of the properties of the Albigny district, next to that of the Pommaries.
