Fight against speeders: Police train with 300 hp cars
The new civilian police vehicles have around 300 hp. In the driving technique center in Saalfelden, the officials trained how these powerful cars drive on the road. The aim of the seminar was that the police officers can use the cars appropriately, Viennese police officer Christian Rosner: “The times are over when you sit in the car and just drive. You should be able to handle the technology and know which technology I have available. “
With 300 hp, the police will keep up with the lawn
The new civil vehicles are mainly used around the racing scene. In principle, all police officers receive driving technique training as part of their training. Those police officers who drive the high-powered cars on duty are given additional training for this task.
Fast but safe driving
On average, the cars that drive on the route in the driving technology center in Saalfelden have between 100 and 150 hp, the new civil vehicles have two to three times as many hp. On Tuesday there will be a training course attended by driving technique instructors from the federal states. They should then pass on their knowledge to their colleagues in training courses, similar to Peter Bachmann from the Styrian police: “The systems are different. It’s a challenge and you have to train for it. We want to bring this closer to our colleagues and so that they can get home safely through work and in the evening healthy. “
Physical limits put the brakes on the police
Although driving at high speed was trained, the main focus was on the safe control of the vehicles and getting to know possible limits, emphasized Harald Fraiss, he is a federal driving technology instructor in the Ministry of the Interior. “The participants should get to know these dangerous moments with the powerful vehicles. There are also physical limits there. It’s about how the vehicle reacts so that the driver can react to it, ”says Fraiss.
The faster the drivers drive, the faster they have to react. For this, the participants have to be concentrated all day, said Roland Frisch, driving technique trainer at the ÖAMTC: “We drive at the highest level, so you can’t be distracted or unfocused. There is no radio or cell phone. There is no time for such things when you move the cars in this area. “
Several of the high-horsepower civil vehicles will also be used in Salzburg in the future.
