EUREGIO Klimaladen is now touring schools in Salzburg and Bavaria
In five stations, young people learn in a playful way how they can propose themselves. Analog and digital media are combined for a varied experience in the air conditioning store. On October 6th, the redesigned touring exhibition was opened for everyone aged 10 and over in the SOS Children’s Village Seekirchen. “All pupils receive a virtual budget and climate points for their purchases in the air-conditioning store. They find out where the raw materials for their mobile phone come from or how many bicycles can be parked in a car “, the designer of the exhibition Eva Zangerle introduces. Plus points can be collected for the correct sorting of waste and alternatives to quick new fashion bargains can be exchanged .
The successful EUREGIO project also receives support from politics. “We are happy to be in their functions as representatives of the community association, regional association, together with the deputy district administrators Resi Schmidhuber from the Traunstein district and Michael Koller from the Berchtesgadener Land district as well as the mayors Konrad Pieringer from Seekirchen, Wolfgang Wagner from Köstendorf and Norbert Meindl from Lofer Salzburger Seenland and for the EUREGIO to present the new edition of the successful exhibition here.
The exhibition is already well booked until January ”, said EUREGIO managing director Steffen Rubach happily. Resi Schmidhuber, responsible district administrator of the Traunstein district, praises the playful way in which the values of climate protection are conveyed to even the youngest and thanks all helpers for their commitment. The connection between climate protection and child protection is emphasized by host Wolfgang Arming, site manager of the SOS Children’s Village in Salzburg: “From our climate study we know that 85 percent of children and young people are afraid of one planet and want to learn more about climate and environmental protection. For us as a child protection organization, climate protection also means child protection. With sustainable conversions, e-mobility, photovoltaics and more green instead of asphalt, we are setting a good example at the Seekirchen location ”.
Finally, there are tips for all exhibition visitors on how everyday life can easily be made climate-friendly. Everyone can document their progress in the habit tracker.
The project was funded by INTERREG VA Austria – Bavaria 2014-2020, a program of the European Union to support cross-border cooperation. Eva Zangerle was responsible for the new exhibition concept and implementation.
