Covid19. Luxembourg: extended health pass, the government deemed “discriminatory”

In the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, the government of Luxembourg announced new sanitary measures.
These will be implemented on November 1, 2021 and will remain so until December 18, unless the situation allows some flexibility by then.
No self-tests for the health pass
Among these new rules, the government announced that the Luxembourg health pass – entitled CovidCheck – will be extended to leisure sites, especially bars and restaurants.
Until now, establishments in the Grand Duchy have been able to choose whether or not to introduce this health pass. This will no longer be possible from the month of November.
Besides this CovidCheck, requested from the age of 12, will no longer take into account the self-tests but only the vaccination and certified tests carried out by health personnel or in pharmacies.
Petitions already filed against the health pass
This enlargement already seems to be poorly accepted by the Luxembourg population. The Chamber of Deputies informs that two petitions have been submitted Monday, October 11, 2021 against the health pass.
The first is soberly titled “Against the application of the CovidCheck regime” while the second expressly calls for “the immediate end of the CovidCheck regime and the resignation of the government car totally towards the unvaccinated ”.
To be open for signatures, the two requests must obtain a favorable opinion from the Committee on Petitions and then declared admissible by the Conference of Presidents.
If this is the case, the two petitions will have to obtain more than 4,500 signatures each to be debated by the deputies and the competent ministers.
