Annecy. Non-gravity runway excursion of a Piper plane at Annecy-Mont-Blanc airport
More fear than harm. Monday, October 11 at the end of the afternoon, around 6.30 p.m., a single-engine tourist plane was the victim of a slip at the end of the runway during its landing at Annecy-Mont-Blanc airport. As soon as the aircraft’s runway excursion, a Piper model PA-46, was reported, the airport firefighting services were called upon to take charge of the passengers, who were slightly shaken but compensated.
Towed by a truck on the tarmac
Immobilized in the grass at the edge of the runway but remained within the airport, the aircraft was towed by a truck to find the tarmac. The commotion around the aircraft attracted the curiosity of many motorists circulating around the airport on Monday evening.
“This type of event is quite common and very common, as it happens every two days at the aerodromes of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. An investigation is always but often opened quickly closed, especially when there are no injuries, ”commented a head of the air transport gendarmerie brigade (BGTA) in Lyon. This type of incident, considered minor, does not fall into the category of accidents and is therefore not referred to the civil security investigation and analysis office (BEA).
However, this exit from the track is reminiscent, without commonality, of the crash of a Cessna Crusader that occurred on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the end of the track. The plane had crossed the taxiways of the road bordering Annecy-Mont-Blanc airport, ending its swerve on the other side of the RD 908. The runway excursion of the plane registered in Switzerland had caused three injuries. not two graves.
