The ministry, in detail, has long recommended the additional dose with immunosuppressions of different types, including organ transplants, or with immunodeficiency and being treated with chemotherapy, while on Friday evening it also authorized the dose boosterthat is, not a coverage from scratch as for the most fragile, but to which, despite having responded adequately to the complete cycle, provide to obtain an extension of their protection. This is recommended, in order of priority, to over-eighty-year-olds, to staff and guests in retirement homes, to health professions and health professionals who carry out their activities in the most at risk health, social, health and social welfare structures. contagion, to adults with high frailty motivated by concomitant or pre-existing pathologies and, as mentioned, from a couple of days to subjects aged 60 and over.
The vaccine used will be that of Pfizer or Moderna, even for those who have obtained the two doses of AstraZeneca, or the single injection of Johnson & Johnson, considered as it has now been widely demonstrated that the heterologous vaccination – that is with two different drugs – has not side effects and, indeed, it also seems to guarantee a protection superior to the homologous. The administration of the dose booster it cannot take place earlier than six months after the completion of the normal vaccination cycle. “He will meet the regional task force – explained the councilor for Health Riccardo Riccardi – for the preparation, in detail, of this new phase and to provide, during the week, the indications to the population, but we are already ready”.
