Expo in Lyon. From the Rhône to the Blue River, a wave of 300 years of history –
By Eva Bourgin
The Departmental Archives are hosting a new exhibition “From the Rhône to the Blue River” until February 26, 2022. A journey that takes us from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the Asian Silk Roads.
“From the Rhône to the Blue River” seals the link between Lyon and the Far East. “There are parties, photographs, historical documents … the exhibition is nothing without this multitude of competitions” reveals Bruno Galland, director of the Metropolitan Departmental Archives. An exhibition unveiled in the colors of blue, red and brown, which pays tribute to water, the common thread of this cultural treasure.
“We wanted the exhibition to be clear, fluid and limpid, similar to water” add Mathilde Furbacco and Ludivine Defranoux, founders of the company S Cédille, specialized in scenography. The wave… the one that moves beyond borders, first of all by traders from the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and industry from the region. “They were first interested in the Lyon evening, and turned to the international scene,” he adds.
150 documents exhibited through this exhibition
The Departmental and Metropolitan Archives illustrate the history of a modern and universal culture. “We have to follow what is being done, to follow the trends and to know what is important” specifies the director. The President of the Rhône Department, Christophe guilloteau was delighted to discover the different scenographies of the exhibition: colored silk fabrics, paintings or unusual objects, this collection allows you to discover little-known aspects of Lyon and Rhone traditions.
In parallel with this cultural immersion, the book “the Lyon chamber of commerce and industry, three centuries of history in archives” completes this timeless exhibition… “remembering the past allows us to build a better future” Bruno conclusion Galland.
