FM meets Sweden’s ambassador, emphasizes the need for all Armenian prisoners of war to return to Azerbaijan
YEREVAN. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received the Swedish ambassador Patrik Svensson on Friday, the Armenian Foreign Ministry informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The interlocutors praised the positive dynamics in the development of Armenian-Swedish relations.
FM Mirzoyan expressed its satisfaction with the Swedish side’s assistance to the reforms being implemented by the Armenian government.
The strengthening of co – operation between Armenia and Sweden, as well as the programs implemented in Armenia by Swedish international development co – operation, were also highlighted.
On regional security issues, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the need for a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict during the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Stairs.
And when it comes to addressing the humanitarian issues caused by the Azerbaijani – Turkish military aggression last autumn, FM Mirzoyan stressed the importance of prompt and unconditional return for all Armenian prisoners of war (COWs) and civilian prisoners held illegally in Azerbaijan, as well as of the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage of the Artsakh territories that have come under Azerbaijan.
