Winter tourism: Strong criticism from Salzburg of the planned après-ski regulation
The ordinance of the Ministry of Health on the corona regulations for the coming ski season is not yet available – that the municipalities should decide on the curfew during après-ski, but does not make the mayors happy.
The President of the Salzburg Association of Municipalities, Günther Mitterer, criticized the ORF Salzburg on Thursday.
“The municipalities are neither responsible for health authorities nor under commercial law,” Mitterer confirmed on Thursday in an APA interview. “Uniform state-wide regulations – or regulations that apply in all western federal states would be more effective. The population and guests should know their way around.” Ultimately, it is also about liability issues. “You can’t just pass that on to the municipalities and the mayors.”
From the office of Governor Wilfried Haslauer it is said to the ORF that the new federal regulation is to be taken note of. In Salzburg, however, there will also be solutions in the coming season together with the municipalities, the medical and district administrative authorities.
Svazek: “Cowardly maneuver by the federal government”
The regional party leader of the FPÖ in Salzburg, Marlene Svazek, also expressed strong criticism: “Passing the curfew on municipalities is a cowardly maneuver and cheap.” This means that the mayors are expected to make economic decisions and give themselves up on terrain that goes far beyond their competencies.
Svazek: “The highest authority is relinquishing decision-making authority here, which strains both the social structure and liability issues. The federal government is doing a disservice to mayors.”
