Pigeon droppings on the State Bridge in Salzburg – cleaning costs 20,000 euros
Again anger for pigeons in the city of Salzburg: Now, because of the droppings of the birds in front of one of the state bridges, this has to be cleaned for 20,000 euros.
Salzburg’s city SPÖ pointed out this fact on Thursday and at the same time called for measures. Club chairman Andrea Brandner said: “The topic of pigeons has been a part of city politics for a long time and the problem still exists, if it has not even worsened. Specifically, it is mainly about contamination by pigeon droppings. I am now calling again a pigeon management for the city of Salzburg and urgently appeal to Mayor Harald Preuner and city councilor Martina Berthold to finally take action. “
In addition to pigeon lofts, pigeon management also provides for controlled feeding. Brandner: “Now the city even has to pay 20,000 euros to clean the State Bridge so that a necessary inspection of the bridge can even be carried out, and all because the bridge is so heavily contaminated with pigeon droppings.”
In the Lehen district, people would even cover the balconies of their apartments with nets to protect themselves from pigeon droppings. With every year in which nothing happens, the pigeon population grows and with it the problems, criticizes Brandner.
