CYCLING – Penultimate round of the season for Edoardo Cipollini. The young cyclist from Lucca was engaged in the classic Lugo-San Marino reserved for the Allievi category. It was hoped for an acute of his but in the end he suddenly gave up.
A beautiful sun on a day that is still almost summer and many people on the Stradone waiting for the Allievi protagonists of the Lugo San Marino number 64. A very classic end of season, practically a small “Lombardia” dedicated to the emerging talents of national cycling. Because whoever wins here, then (usually) makes a career. This is why we followed with great attention the participation of Edoardo Cipollini leader and captain of Fosco Bessi Calenzano. Already victorious six times in this magical 2021 the Lucca, Tuscan student champion, wanted to drop the classic settebello. And in fact the race had also taken the right turn with a natural selection, we would dare to say obvious of the forces in the field. A small group of the best to tackle the ramps that led up to San Marino and in the shadow of Mount Titano. Well positioned Cipollini Junior jumped on the pedals when, however, all of a sudden he gave way just as clearly. You may think of a jump in the chain but in reality it was not like that. The light simply went out. The most awaited protagonist was missing, at least as far as we are concerned, but the race remained beautiful even in the excited final. With less than 3 from the finish, a group of 7 riders took advantage of the last few stretches and were reduced to a quartet. To contend for the finish line, remained Privitera, Rossi and Enea Sambinello of Fiumicinese who tried to make the coup, he enfant du pay. But on the finish line the imperative idea was that of Samuele Privitera, Ligurian champion who won in front of Filippo Omati and Leoardo Rossi. The long season of the Allievi will end next Sunday in Lombardy in Cesano Maderno with the 58th San Pio X Village Trophy. Cipollini, who will pass as juniors in 2022, is announced at the start. Who knows if right at the last dive he will be able to drop a magnificent settebello that would crown a superb season anyway and that has brought him to the general attention by reviving ancient and glorious glories linked to such an important and prestigious name.
