Hungary is asking for nothing more than equal treatment
Every month, the left-wing parties in the European Parliament (EP) initiate a debate on Hungary on Wednesday on the disbursement of recovery funds for the recovery from the coronavirus epidemic, which is nothing more than a repeated statement of political pressure from Fidesz MEP Enikő before the plenary debate on the current state of recovery plans.
According to the representative, it is “The majority on the left is constantly in the spotlight because it can’t stand the way things don’t go the way they want to define them.”
Enikő Győri said that now in April the European Commission has already negotiated with the Hungarian government. he was close to accepting the recovery plan. As he said, the Hungarian plan meets all the content requirements.
He emphasized that the committee’s negotiations had stalled when the Hungarian parliament passed the child protection law. The Brussels panel requested an extension of the assessment of the plans, without the results achieved so far, as was the case with the Polish Recovery Fund. The original date expired in September.
He added:
the EP wants to maintain political pressure, it wants to intimidate the European Commission, because it does not want the committee to consult the Hungarian and Polish governments on the basis of the current legislation, along the same substantive expectations, as it does the other things.
He also pointed out that Hungary considers recovery issues to be very important, so he took the disbursement of funds on his own, which took out a loan of 4.5 million euros from the financial markets.
He pointed out that Hungary’s financial rating has improved, “so there is little difference in how much money is raised on the financial markets than for which the European Commission receives it.
“All recovery funds are in principle a grant, but this will have to be repaid, it is not free money” – reminded.
Enikő Győri draws attention: we ask for nothing more than equal treatment, the avoidance of double standards. Hungary is open to dialogue and the committee must gather its courage and resist political pressure.
