CKay from Nigeria is number 1 in Norway
CKay is Norwegians’ new favorite.
🎵 Tu-tu-tu, tu-tu-tu-uh-tu-tu
Uh-tu-tu-tu, tu-tu-tu-uh-tu-tu 🎶
The autumn in the north will be a little warmer with CKay from Nigeria, who now has the most played song in Norway.
Specifically «love nwantiti (ah ah ah)».
Here is the video for the remix Nigerian Joeboy and Ghanaian Kuami Eugene.
According to 730.no, this is the first time a Nigerian artist is number 1 on the Norwegian singles list.

The song, which CKay describes as lo-fi emo-afrobeat, is about a girl he was in love with when he released the single.
CKay alias Chukwuka Ekweani (born 95) grew up in the middle class in the small town of Kaduna with a mother and father who are nurses and doctors respectively.
He wanted to focus on music, something his parents did not support. As an 18-year-old, he ran away from home and moved to Lagos.
Five years later, he wrote and produced (with the production tag CKay Yo) the song that is now changing his life.
The Nigerian did not write it literally, but the freestyle during the recording.
Something that does not sound unrealistic.
My baby is my valentine
Girl na du dey makes me rise the temperature
If you leave me, I’ll die … I swear
You’re like the oxygen I need to survive
-I did not write a single word, the 26-year-old says Rolling stone.
– I was in the living room and made beats, as I did, played the chords, built on them and did my freestyle, the shooting star continues.
CKay says that the song was not finished before he went to bed, but that he can still use the vomit.
-I recorded it around midnight and I was very tired, so I decided to just put in the words for the “ah ah ah” part in the morning. To make a long story short, I woke up in the morning and realized that it was tented just the way it was.
This is how he made the song:
This was back in 2019.
After the song became a local hit via Africa’s perhaps biggest label, Nigerian Chocolate City, he signed with Warner Music in South Africa and released a remix on Valentine’s Day in 2020.
Full of several remixes; including French, German and North African and an acoustic version:
(When will the Norwegian remix come? And with whom?)
“Love nwantiti (ah ah ah)” has now been used in over 350 million TikTok snippets, and has the first place at Shazam:
(Funny fact: Apple bought the British app Shazam in 2018 for 3.5 billion kroner.)
The original and four of the remixes of “love nwantiti (ah ah ah)” further say a total of 200 million streams on Spotify.
The single is from the album CKay the first, which he followed up this year with his third project Girlfriend.
