The encounter between the cops and the Foxes was historical. It was the first meeting of two ICE teams on an international level. The HCB was able to prevail in the end with 5: 3 and thus keeps the race for group victory open. Both teams now have 12 points in their account and will fight for 1st place in Group H in the Bozner Eiswelle next Tuesday. Whoever wins this game will be in the first pot in the draw for the round of 16.
Salzburg, which had won all 4 games this CHL season before, had to do without numerous participants on Tuesday evening. In addition to the previously known missing personal details Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, Lukas Schreier and Ty Loney, Alexander Pallestrang, Dominique Heinrich and Captain Thomas Raffl will join them. At Bozen, however, there was no captain Anton Bernard.

The foxes found it difficult to get involved in the early stages. In the first 10 minutes, Salzburg clearly set the tone. After Mathew Maione’s equalizer, the tide turned. Led by an outstanding Brett Findlay, the Talferstadt team (they were the more effective team) celebrated a deserved away win – even if things got tight again in the end and events rolled over. So Felden 4 goals in the last 5 minutes.
The highlights of the game
- Salzburg is used to the initial phase at will. The cops fail again and again because of HCB goalie Kevin Boyle. In the 11th minute, the home side took the lead: Teerence James Brennan pulled out from a distance and Peter Hochkofler steered the puck into the goal.
- This is what is called effective: just 4 minutes later, Bolzano is out. After a template by Diego Glück, Mathew Maione outwitted Salzburg goalkeeper Nicolas Wieser with a backhander.
- The HCB is now getting stronger and uses the majority shortly before the first third siren: After a shot by Dustin Gazley, Brett Findlay converts the rebound to a 2-1 lead.
- Findlay strikes again towards the middle of the second third: After a pass from Gazley, the HCB top scorer is spot on and takes the 3-1 lead.
- A strange goal for the HCB. Boyle, who is expressly strong as a bear, is not yet ready after a face-off. Peter Schneider achieved the 2: 3 relatively easily.
- Gazley has the right answer. He decides the game with an empty net hit.
- But Salzburg comes up again. Danjo Leonhardt converted the rebound to 3: 4 after a Schneider shot.
- But now the party has been finally decided. This time Dominic Alberga hits the empty goal to make it 5-3.
