Archiweek looking at architecture in Brussels with a fresh and open view
During its third edition, which will take place from 10 to 19 October, Archiweek allows visitors to discover Brussels and its buildings with “a fresh and open view”. Brussels State Secretary for Urban Planning Pascal Smet (one.brussels-Vooruit) prepared together with the curators the program and theme of the Brussels Architecture Week for the Victoria Tower, an example of a real estate project with functions.
Archiweek wants to introduce the general public to the potential of Brussels contemporary architecture and further inspire versatile professionals. Everyone to walk through the streets of Brussels with a fresh, open and even childish look and ask simple questions like “how come?”. By ‘unlearning’, entrenched ideas can be questioned.
“We know that we have to change climates. There is a crisis and there are people living together in the city, but it is still difficult to get out of existing frameworks, regulations and habits,” says curator Dieter Leyssen of architecture firm 51N4. Smet added: “In the post-covid era, we must create a healthy city in all efforts of the word.”
The program consists of guided tours, walks, open days of architectural firms and workshops. For example, from October 10 to 12 you can get acquainted with sustainable example projects and during the weekend of October 16 and 17, for example, there are 20 architectural locations to discover that have been selected by the curators. All events are free, but reservation is required via archiweek.urban.brussels.
