“Retro-3D”, “American Genius” or “Russian Orchestra”: Ulyanovsk residents are invited to concerts and exhibitions – Ulyanovsk today

Sugar Mizzy October 4, 2021

The atmosphere of an autumn weekend, in addition to bright foliage underfoot, will help Ulyanovsk residents to create cultural events. For example, on Saturday a concert of the Ulyanovsk Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments will take place, and on Sunday evening the famous Louis Armstrong will be performed by the jazz ensemble “Academic Band”. In addition, an exhibition of stereoscopes – “television sets” of the past centuries will be open for residents for a whole month.

Historical artifacts or modern technology?

In the Ulyanovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. IA Goncharova until November 7, residents of the city can visit the exhibition “Retro-3D” from the private collection of V.N. Krugova. The author’s exposition harmoniously combines both historical motives and modern technologies, telling viewers about the stereoscope – one of the popular “fun” of the XIX-XX centuries. It already has historical value.

The device was often used by the 19th century “television”. A second wave of widespread obsession with stereoscopes swept over society in the late 1930s after the spread of reversed film. Relatively inexpensive plastic or cardboard devices allow you to see high-quality volumetric images from little-known slides.

The collection of real stereopairs of the late 19th – early 20th centuries was taken as the basis for the “Retro-3D” exposition. They, in turn, were combined into blocks on different topics, demonstrating everyday life, architecture, significant events, historical places of past years. In addition, viewers will see artifacts from past centuries at the exhibition. Visitors will also find a thematic photo zone.

Russian orchestra – the soul of Russia

On the stage of the Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth, this Saturday, Ulyanovsk residents will remember the legendary legendary Vasily Andreev, a Russian ascetic musician, creator of the Great Russian Orchestra, the first Russian orchestra of Russian folk instruments in Russia and the world. The concert starts at 17:00. Andreev laid the foundations for the original repertoire for folk instruments, adhering to the concept of Russian songs and tunes, and also gave impetus to the tradition of the orchestra performing the music of European classics. Many talented composers followed in advance and created unique works. So, balalaika, domra, button accordion boldly stood on a par with generally recognized academic instruments.

It should be noted that Andreev’s idea is still alive today. Almost every city in the country has a professional orchestra of Russian folk instruments and Ulyanovsk is not exception.

The concert program is compiled in the best traditions of the ascetic and followers. The home-grown collective will perform the masterpieces of the Russian orchestra: G. Shenderev, V. Gridin, E. Trostyansky, P. Kulikov, A. Tsygankov.

“King of Jazz” in the city

Jazz ensemble “Academic Band” opens the new season with a program dedicated to the anniversary of the world famous Louis Armstrong. The concert will take place at the Sovremennik Concert Hall on October 10 at 17:00. For the collective, jazz is, without exaggeration, a lifestyle. Each musician is not just a performer, but a virtuoso who creates an indescribable and incendiary atmosphere in front of the public.

On the first jazz evening of the season, the musicians celebrated the 120th anniversary of the birth of the greatest musician Louis Armstrong, who became the first artist to glorify this trend all over the world and deservedly received the title of “King of Jazz”. His legacy and contribution to the popularization of jazz is immense, and his immortal hits continue to win the hearts of new fans to this day.

The anniversary of Louis Armstrong inspired the Ulyanovsk ensemble to create a special concert program. From the stage, Ulyanovsk residents will hear: “Hello Dolly”, “Basen Street Blues”, “Mack the Knife”, “Hello Brother”, “Cheek To Cheeck”, “C’est Si Bon”, “Hello Brother”, “Kiss of Fire “. “And” Cake “Walking babies from home”.
