Motorola (MSI) body-worn cameras to increase Sweden’s railway safety
Motorola Solutions, Inc. MSI recently received a primary contract for an unknown amount from SJ AB to provide VB400 body-worn cameras for safety and security for employees and passengers across the entire railway network in Sweden. With train journeys gradually increasing, the contract will provide the necessary for the state-owned passenger train operator which has 1,500 departures over 400 stations every day to ensure better passenger and employee safety against possible accidents.
VB400 camera-bearing cameras are known for their robustness and are built to withstand adverse temperature conditions to support the demanding of work. Designed to capture high-quality video from the wearer’s point of view with an intuitive recording function, it provides transparency with an extended battery life that lasts up to 12 hours of operation. The device can be securely assigned using an employee’s ID tag at the beginning of a shift and is easily activated by the wearer, combining Bluetooth sensors with peer-to-peer recording. In addition to live streaming facilities for increased situational awareness, the integration with Bluetooth sensors and beacons enables automated recording function.
Motorola will also offer its VideoManager evidence management software to seamlessly upload and manage the recorded video as part of SJ AB’s daily workflows. The company will provide technical support and maintenance around the clock to equip railway employees with an extra layer of operational visibility, which increases transparency and protection for passengers and railway staff.
Motorola rides on such state-of-the-art products and expects strong demand in video security and services, land radio products and related software, while benefiting from a solid foundation.
