In Salzburg, fraudulent SMS are again making the rounds: the police are warning of messages that have been sent under the contact “LPD AT” and in which the recipient is requested to pay alleged outstanding penalties.
As a spokeswoman said on Monday afternoon for the APA, there are currently numerous reports of so-called phishing SMS. Strangers would send messages under the contact name “LPD AT”. The abbreviation is supposed to stand for the state police directorate (s) Austria and pretend seriousness.
