In search of possible war engines
The Ministry of the Armed Forces has planned to build a building dedicated to the reception of the command and administrative services of the medical center of the armed forces, at the north-western end of the Colonel Edme district, on the Francazal site. But before starting the work, it is a question of cleaning up the soil. And in this case, a so-called pyrotechnic depollution since it consisted in extracting any buried war engines, resulting from the bombardments linked to the 1939-1945 conflict.
Possible evacuations
A technical and reported project that will have an impact on the residential area located to the northeast of the district, announces the prefecture of Haute-Garonne. Which specifies that occasional evacuation and traffic ban operations cannot be ruled out.
“150 homes are affected by an evacuation or occasional confinement of a few hours. 4 accommodations available for a 4-day evacuation“, indicates the joint statement of the Prefecture, and the cities of Toulouse, Portet-sur-Garonne and Cugnaux, on which extends the grip of the site of Francazal.
Support methods and accommodation and catering solutions will be offered to affected residents during the evacuation period, in consultation with the State and local authorities.
This decontamination phase will not be the last, other work of this nature is already planned in the coming months.
