Luxembourg at the OECD ministerial within the framework of the Luxembourg vice-presidency
Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance, Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Franz Fayot, Minister of the Economy, will participate in the meeting of the OECD Council at Ministerial Level (RCM), which will take place from 4 to October 6, 2021 in Paris.
The RCM will be led by the United States with South Korea and Luxembourg as vice-presidents, and will be themed “Building a green and inclusive future around shared values“. On October 4, Pierre Gramegna will speak together with Mathias Cormann, Secretary General of the OECD, at a high-level round table on the theme of ESG criteria and the alignment of financial markets to promote climate transition. October 6, Ministers Asselborn, Gramegna and Fayot will participate in the various working sessions of the OECD Council meeting at ministerial level (RCM) and will have a series of interviews held on the sidelines of this.
The Ministerial-Level Council Meeting is the OECD’s highest-level forum, attended by ministers of finance, economy, foreign affairs, trade and other government departments of member and partner countries of the “Organization, as well as representatives of other international organizations.
The first part of the RCM took place virtually on May 31st and June 1st. It provided an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and to share priorities for short-term recovery. The second part and related events will tackle the challenges in the medium and long term, with a focus on the climate crisis and the transition to carbon neutrality, as well as the need to make the more inclusive future by fostering digital transformation and creating opportunities for all. Based on the shared values, members adopt a new vision statement to guide the Organization over the next decade.
