Index – Domestic – On Saturday, 150 years later, Hungary regained a city
Kiskunlacháza, which has been operating as a large village for a long time, can once again boast a city rank, but on Saturday it received the title back from János Áder after 150 years. The historical moment was celebrated in the settlement of Pest County with a series of all-day programs.
An old name already mentioned it in a charter in 1285, and in 1839 it earned the rank of a market town. The current settlement was formed in 1950 from the amalgamation and then official amalgamation of two independent villages, Kiskunlacháza (Lacháza) and Pereg, and thus was considered a large village in the area.
Kiskunlacháza determines the embankment in the area, so he believes that it has a worthy place among the cities of Hungary. This is due to the dynamic development of the last 15 years, the creative power of the citizens living here, their entrepreneurial attitude, the will of a community to do and its constant renewal. A city is only a physically well-defined, large residential unit, but a living, pulsating community formed over the centuries with its own traditions, charm and appeal.
– said Mayor József Répás.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Gergely Gulyás presented the mayor with a diploma symbolizing the urban crisis, after which family programs, musical and stage productions, light painting, cake and tree planting awaited the entertainment desires. In the evening, the event ends with a Margaret Island concert and street ball.
